The Gathering Space

A critical strategic focus for The Chrysalis Group in 2008 was finding an accessible gathering space in a central location. In December 2008, a space became available in the west side of Carytown, in the Ukrop's Shopping Center. After visits by several Chrysalis Board and Council members, and thoughtful consideration of the various costs involved, the Chrysalis Board voted unanimously to make the move.

Chrysalis now holds many of its events, classes and workshops at the Gathering Space, which is located at 3527 Ellwood Avenue, on the left side of Martin's (formerly Ukrop's) and across from the Aquarian Bookstore:

The Gathering Space is Your Space
We encourage our members and the community to make use of this lovely space. Our hope is that all experiences in this space will support the well-being and enrich the journeys of all who participate!
Rent The Gathering Space


In addition to scheduled events, The Chrysalis Group offers a variety of practice groups, many of which are small groups of participants who commit to six to eight sessions to explore one topic in depth. The facilitator of a practice group pays Chrysalis $15 per hour for use of The Gathering Space. Any member interested in starting a practice group should contact  Practices Chair Pam Redd.

The Gathering Space is also available to outside groups for programs or community fundraisers, provided the organization and the topic are in alignment with the mission of The Chrysalis Group. Chrysalis Registrar Michelle West and Practices Chair Pam Redd can provide information and the forms necessary for using the space. If approved, the fee for use of the space is $25 per hour for Chrysalis members and $50 per hour for non-members.

The Gathering Space is an open, carpeted room. Folding tables and stackable chairs are provided. The space features a partitioned-off back room with refreshment supplies, meeting-related equipment and restroom facilities.
